Legionary 2019 – Wild West

I have to admit that this year’s Legionary Show was one of the easiest games I/we (Combined Oppos) have ever put on.

Normally I buy and paint something new every year. This year we had decided to take life a little easier and play with something we have had for a while.  We decided to go with the Wild West and have a run out with the Free wargame rules – Gunfighter’s Ball Greenhorn Edition from Knuckleduster Miniatures link http://knuckleduster.com/shop/index.php?route=information/information&information_id=7

To give the game something different we decided having watched a few films to set it in a snow covered town. Here are a few pictures from the game, that played brillantly.

Building are 4 Ground Sarissa and Empires of War

4Ground Wild West Carriages

Last week in the post arrived the new Wild West carriages from 4Ground which consisted of a goods carriage and two passenger carriages. They cost £17.50 for the passengercarriage and £14.00 for the goods carriage, although they do offer a deal on buying all three.

These are new releases that support the recently released train and tender. Please see earlier blog.

These carriages go together really well as you would expect from 4Ground and on the whole have a good look. I still have one to make.

The fitting of the chairs in the passenger carriage is awkward as the chairs are made out of 5 pieces of card. As with the train itself there is a lot of card in these kits and storage is again a concern of mine.

As fare as I am concerned there are two disappointing aspects to the passenger coach. These are:

  1. The size of the seats – they look too small and I do not believe if and when passengers are added they would be able to it next to each other in a seat.  I suspect this was done to allow figures to move in the aisle.
  2. The steps on to the carriages do not feel elegant enough. Maybe I expected some sort of railing to finish off the boarding area.

The goods carriage is a little sparse inside with just a small set of shelves. It does have 4 sliding doors and they are large enough to allow horses to board althhough inside there is nowhere to stable them.

4 Ground Wild West Train

Just a quick post. I have been building this since Christmas, when I recieved it.

I admit I am not the best modeller nor am i too patient! So yours should look better.

This is an impressive model and I love the look and scale of it.

12 pages, yes 12 pages of instructions but they are good instructions. A photograph showing you the pieces is then followed by photos showing you how to apply them.

My only concern is that there is a lot of cardboard in the model and storage will need to be well considered.
