This is a short update on my Vikings. This time I have painted them. Just 18 and all archers.
12 are from Warlord and 6 from I think, Crusader Miniatures.
I like the crusader miniatures best as they are a little more animated and have a more 3d feel to them. The warlord ones seem to have been sculpted for ease of casting.
This is probably the last units I need for this army.
My wargame nemesis Ian has been pestering me to give SAGA a go.
I have resisted as I don’t care what benefits he gets from them for being above that certain age i.e. significantly older than me.
He finally explained that it was not the old person related saga but a battle game from Tomahawk Studios.
Well we played an intro game and I have to admit it interested me, especially for my Early Saxons, Vikings, Normans and Later Saxons that are all a current work in progress.
We played Saga 2 and the rules are only a £10. What shocked me was the dice and the price, £12 a set, so at least £36 plus any postage. That is potentially an army for this game so;
Ordered some blank recessed dice from blankdice link www.blankdice.co.uk/ at only 18p each plus postage.
I found the images for the dice on the Saga web site as a download.
Put them into MS Paint and resized to 14.3mm image dimensions. Blankdice offer a template for the recesses on their dice. I found it easier though to resize and print out.
Cut out the faces and glued to the blank dice with paper glue.
For added protection , I sprayed with a varnish.
I bought enough dice for another 3 armies if needed. The cost turned out to be about £1.70 for 8 dice.
